Organ transplantation is a dynamic field, with continued progress being made in artificial organs and transplantation methods that reduce rejection and infection. There is increased pressure to perfect transplantation methods because the need for organ donors far outstrips the availability of organs and tissues and governmental regulations have become more stringent, the transplantation business continues to innovate through better harvesting and procurement techniques, vastly improved Immuno-suppression regimes, and advanced tissue matching, which have helped build the organ and tissue transplantation business to a maturing stage.
Visual Sparks Technologies in response to the need of transplant tissue banks and in collaboration with proven industry expert’s has developed the Visual Specimen and Tracking System (vSTMS™-Transplant). vSTMS™ follows HIPPA and FDA Title 21 CFR Part 11 guidelines. In addition to passing a rigorous internal testing process conducted by our company, STMS has met or exceeded all requirements of every independent audit conducted by bio-storage technologies’ clients. It also offers a query option employing ICD and SNOMED coding systems.
The vSTMS™ Transplant application is an industry leading web-enabled system for automation of the complete supply chain in transplant tissue bank industry. The web-enabled windows-based interactive software utilizing bar-code technology has been developed with the functionalities to accommodate the entire process from Donor Source, to Tissue Recovery, Tissue Processing, Tissue Distribution, and finally Recipient and Post-op information management. Additionally, it has the facility for a search engine for a multi-dimensional database query, maintaining a real time inventory of banked grafts, identifying the status and location of a specific graft throughout the entire process, multi-layered security system, as well as generating reports. The software converts patients’ (donor and/or recipient) data into unique identification numbers and bar-code formats, in order to retain full confidentiality and privacy. It has the default function of suggesting a specific location for each graft in the tissue bank, which can be overridden manually. The software allows for individual storage unit configuration and dynamic visualization of the graft location once it is placed in a storage unit.
